Call for Submission of Original Articles on the Theme
“Scope of Nursing Practice in Primary Health Care”

The Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem (Latin American Journal of Nursing - RLAE) invites the national and international scientific community to submit unpublished articles on the “Scope of Nursing Practice in Primary Health Care” theme. For this call, "scope" refers to the activities, responsibilities, and specific areas of action within the nursing field(1). In this sense, professional scope refers objectively to the activities for which professionals are trained and qualified to perform, which may change over time as professions incorporate new clinical practices and skills. Legal scope defines the activities that can and cannot be performed based on laws and professional regulations, not necessarily on professional competence(2).
This call aims to disseminate research evidence that contributes to strengthening and expanding the scope of nursing practice with a view to its social, political, cultural, and economic impact, and social production in health.
For this call, articles related to the different points of care that compose the Health Care Networks will be accepted, as Primary Health Care is understood from its expanded perspective and corresponds to a model of care, reorientation, and organization of an integrated health system aimed at ensuring comprehensiveness and resoluteness, considering the universality of care.
Investigations should provide contributions to clinical practice, education, and research in nursing and other health fields, and should be linked to one of the following themes:
  1. Care protocols that guide the scope of nursing practice in Primary Health Care.
  2. Nursing actions in the lines of care in Primary Health Care.
  3. Nursing actions in caring for people with chronic conditions in Primary Health Care.
  4. The scope of nursing practice in shared work with other health professionals in the Care Networks.
  5. Nursing practice markers that contribute to comprehensiveness, equity, and resolution of the health needs of the population assigned to Primary Health Care.
  6. Innovative actions that contribute to the access and accessibility of vulnerable populations, including those affected by neglected diseases.
  7. The scope of nursing practice from the perspective of inclusion and the right to health.
  8. Scientific evidence of reforms in legislation that regulates the scope of nursing practice.
  9. Initiatives to expand and share the scope of nursing practice.
  10. Studies analyzing the determinants of the scope of nursing practice.
  11. User satisfaction studies regarding expanding the scope of nursing practice in Primary Health Care.
  12. Autonomy, visibility, responsibility, and the scope of nursing practice.
