“Nursing Research and Implementation Science: Sustainable Solutions to Strengthen the Workforce and Health Systems”
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem (RLAE) invites the national and international scientific community to submit original articles on the theme “Nursing Research and Implementation Science: Sustainable Solutions to Strengthen the Workforce and Health Systems”.
This call is aligned with the guidelines of the XIX Pan-American Colloquium on Nursing Research, whose main organizing institution is the School of Nursing of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, in collaboration with the WHO/PAHO Collaborating Centre for the Development of Nursing Research. The event will be held in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil, from October 26 to 30, 2026.
This thematic issue aims to disseminate evidence produced by nursing research that contributes to the advancement and consolidation of implementation science and sustainable solutions related to the health workforce and resilient health systems, focusing on social, political, cultural, and economic impact.
Articles will be accepted if they provide relevant contributions to clinical practice, education, public policy, management, and research in nursing and other health fields, provided that they are aligned with one of the following thematic axes:
Axis 1 - Implementation Science - Methodologies, processes, and strategies to reduce the gap between evidence and practice
Topics:
- Models, theories, and frameworks for implementation science applied to Nursing (e.g., adaptation of theoretical models to Latin American contexts)
- Implementation science interventions, strategies, and outcomes in Nursing
- Evaluation of processes, fidelity, adaptation, and acceptability of complex interventions
- Hybrid methods (effectiveness–implementation) in nursing studies
- Co-creation, co-design, and participation of users, families, and communities in care implementation
- Regulatory processes and implementation of advanced nursing practice
- Implementation science and perspectives on the effective adoption of advanced nursing practice across different levels of the health care network
- Use of information and evidence, information technology, and information systems to support clinical and management decisions in implementation science
- Organizational, cultural, economic, and political processes that facilitate and/or interfere with the incorporation of evidence in implementation science
- Education and training of nursing professionals to support clinical decision-making in implementation science
- Knowledge translation and effective dissemination strategies
- Participatory research and community engagement
- Analysis of public health policies and methods for planning and projecting the health workforce
Axis 2 - Sustainable Solutions - Cost-effective, adaptable, and feasible interventions for health systems
Topics:
- Sustainability of the health workforce (retention, migration, working conditions, remuneration, mental health and well-being, work organization, safe practices)
- Governance, public policies, and strategic plans for strengthening nursing in health systems
- Communication and leadership in nursing for sustainable health systems (clinical, academic, community, and political leadership)
- Territorial management of health care and the organization of integrated health care networks
- Interprofessional collaboration and collaborative practices as a strategy for sustainable health care
- Economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness of interventions to expand the scope of nursing practice
- Innovative and sustainable solutions to reduce health inequalities based on nursing and health scientific evidence (gender, interculturality, vulnerable populations, remote, rural, and underserved territories)
- Sustainable nursing care models for noncommunicable chronic diseases, mental health, and maternal and child health
- Implementation science and rational use of resources and patient safety in contexts of scarcity
- Network management and digital innovations in resource-limited settings
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem is an open-access journal (SciELO, REV@ENF, and the USP Journals Portal) that publishes research results in English, Portuguese, and Spanish in Nursing and related fields by authors from different countries. The journal is indexed in Web of Science and JCR, Scopus and SJR, MEDLINE (PubMed Central), CINAHL, PsycINFO, and LILACS, among others. Articles approved in this call will follow the continuous publication flow of the journal.
